Biography
Steve Stein is a former scientific researcher at the Applied Sciences Kaiserslautern / Department of Computer Sciences/ Interactive Media and part of the Information Architecture / Search Engine Laboratory. He has graduated as a Master of Science from the International School of New Media (Germany) and has a Diploma from the University of Applied Sciences in Bremerhaven. Mr. Stein participated in courses at the Cherbourg School of Engineering (France) and taught at the University of Applied Sciences Kaiserslautern. His appointment as a research scientist included lectures and tutorials in courses about Media Management and Production, Media Design Foundations and Media and Communications. He is involved in various scientific projects which cover areas such as social networking (online communities), search engine engineering (semantic web) and information architecture (user experience design & usability). Within his research projects he evaluates, advises and manages the development of prototypic implementations and student projects.
As a Research Scientist and graduated Master of Science in Digital Media & Diplom Computer Scientist (UoaS) he is based in Boston, MA and Berlin, Germany. His work is focusing on usability and user-experience, information architecture and design, online marketing, media management, intellectual property, social-networking and information visualization.
Mr. Stein has been working as a project manager and advised various web based projects in leading positions. This included responsibility for the development and optimization of websites, online services and mobile applications. Steve Stein has designed and implemented enterprise information systems, developed online and marketing strategies and has worked on information architecture projects for public authorities, corporate clients and academic institutions. His research in the area of information technology is exploring the next generation of intelligent search, information retrieval and visualization systems. Steve Stein is a IHK Lübeck and ISNM Scholar, and recipient of a unique student fellowship from CareerConcept.
Steve Stein is working in the areas of usability, accessibility and security as well as webdesign, e-commerce and online marketing. His current position is Information Architect in a Frankfurt based company that provides tailor-made software solutions and state-of-the-art technologies for the web.
Awards & Funding
Steve Stein has been awarded several scholarships and studentships from academical and commercial institutions. A half scholarship from the ISNM Institute of the University of Lübeck that was soon replaced by a full scholarship from the Chamber of Commerce in Lübeck. In addition to this distinct honor, Mr. Stein was also funded by the unique venture capital fund Career Concept during his entire graduate study.
Academic Career
Steve Stein has pursued an active academic career. With a diploma in Computer Science and a consecutive Master in Digital Media he was able to directly continue his academic career as a lecturer in Digital Media.

Steve Stein has taught lectures in Media Design Foundations, Media and Communications and Media Management and Production in the Bachelor of Science Programme at the University of Applied Science in Kaiserslautern.
Master of Science in Digital Media
Steve Stein has graduated as a Master of Science in Digital Media from the International School of New Media a private institute at the University of Lübeck.
He participated in different (scientific research) projects and explored cutting-edge as well as fundamental areas of digital media and human computer interaction. In his master thesis Steve Stein investigated the area of information architecture from a socio-technical perspective.
Diploma in Computer Science
Steve Stein was an undergraduate student of media informatics. He obtained his Diploma in Computer Science (major in media informatics) at the University of Applied Science in Bremerhaven. Mr. Stein finished his programme one year ahead of time with a thesis on a proposed fundamental structure for an XML/XSLT based content management system.
